sv44Want to get more traffic to your website or blog? If so, then here’s a fun idea you can steal to get traffic to your site, and best of all… it’s easy and free (two of my favorite things). All it takes is a little brains and creativity…

And I KNOW you’ve got that. You’re on this blog, aren’t you? ;-)

Here’s how it works. I recently went to a street fair here in San Francisco. There’s a local cable station out here that runs a pretty cool marketing campaign which actually gets their viewers in on the action.

They go to public events with a big cutout sign of their logo, and they videotape people holding it. They get them dancing with it, doing station identifications and introducing upcoming shows, and even singing the station’s jingle… usually waaay off-key. Yeee-ouch, my ears! read more…

by Sterling Valentine

If you’ve visited recently, you might have noticed it looks a little different around here, and some of the posts are gone.

We’re upgrading the blog, and we lost some of the old posts in the move.

That’ll teach me to back up more regularly!

Now we’re using the Wordpress Database Backup plugin to automatically backup the site, and send the backup to us via email… pretty sweet

If you’re not currently backing up your blog, I suggest you check it out. (It’s free.)

Thanks for your emails and comments - we’ll be back up to full speed soon.

If you want to be notified when we’re fully up and running, you can subscribe on the top right side of the blog.

Now go make some money online! ;-)

Sterling

How I added 222 followers to my Twitter account

2008 September 19
I just noticed that today I passed the 222 followers mark on the new social networking site “Twitter,” so I figured it would be a good time for an update…
222 Twitter followers since July 31, 2008

222 Twitter followers since July 31, 2008

Here are my thoughts on using twitter to make money online so far:
  • Careful… this could get addictive!
  • I’ve found that the simple act of following people can easily get you followers pretty quickly. Many people are “reciprocal” followers, meaning that they will follow anyone who will follow them. Ah yes, The Internet Is Indeed The Great Equalizer. :-)
  • It’s also fun to see go through the lists of people that your favorite people are following. I’ve found a lot of cool blogs and people, and already met some new folks this way. For example, I just connected with another internet marketing dude named Matthew Sherborne who, like me, also lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. Without Twitter, we could have been passing each other at the supermarket and never known we were both in the same business.
  • Damn, this could *really* get addictive!
  • You can trick out your page a little bit, kind of like playing with your MySpace background, but (thankfully) not THAT customizable… (quick - somebody check if PimpMyTwitter.com is available!)
  • Some people post personal stuff, some just business, and some do both. Your mileage may vary. I figure I’m just going to be myself and see what happens. :-)

Here’s my link: http://twitter.com/_sterling if you want to follow me. If you do, I’ll follow you, cool?

So, are you using Twitter yet? How many followers do you have? How many do you follow? How long did it take you to get there? Do you think it’s a good use of your time? What are the benefits you’ve gotten? How about any annoyances?

My friend Bob “The Teacher” Jenkins just gave me complimentary access to his new social networking course, which looks really good, so I’m going to dig into it and take his advice.

Overall, I give Twitter a thumbs up so far.

In fact, as I was writing this post, two new cool people just signed up to follow me! See for yourself…

Did I mention that this could get addictive? Sheesh! :-D

What are YOU struggling with?

2008 September 18

I’ll be honest - getting this blog redesign done was a long struggle, which has gotten me thinking…

What are *you* struggling with as you try to make money online?

We all struggle… I still struggle with things, and all the top marketers I speak with still struggle, too.

If you aren’t yet generating income online, what do you think is holding you back right now?

If you are bringing in some money, what is keeping you from making more?

I’m going to set up a time that I can spend with you LIVE, answering questions, and helping you with your business… no charge, of course. ;-)
It’s always helpful to me when I can find out that I’m not alone in what I’m struggling with.

So, what you are struggling with?

Traffic Fusion: Filsaime Drops Gamechanging Software Tool… Again

2008 September 15

Sheesh… this guy is a machine!

The last time that Mike Filsaime released a major software tool, it was Butterfly Marketing, and it made me thousands of dollars, so you know I’m excited about this.

Traffic Fusion is a software tool that allows you to get instant traffic from other people’s websites.

The best part is that it’s the most qualified, targeted traffic you can get, because you’re getting the clickers and buyers from that other site… not the tire-kickers.

I’m not surprised that Mike’s done it again, but what I am surprised about, frankly, is the price…

It’s a lot lower than many people thought it would be, including me…

Check it out here, and let me know what you think.

Make Money Online With These Three “Secret Shortcuts”

2008 September 13

If you want to make money online, it’s easier than you think.

What are the three “secret shortcuts” that have allowed me to do it over the last few years?

I’ve thought about it for a while, now, and here’s what I’ve come up with.

Secret Shortcut # 1: Focus

In the beginning, your single most important goal is to make your first dollar online, nothing else.

But without strong focus, it’s easy to get distracted by new things and think you’re “getting a lot done,” but not realize you’re just fooling yourself, until it’s too late.

What good is making “progress” if you’re headed in the wrong direction?

Having lots of projects may be stimulating, but more isn’t better.

Spreading yourself too thin just guarantees that none of them will succeed.

You need to follow a tested, proven plan that’s completely focused on making that first dollar, and stop doing everything else until you do.
